Energy:
As of March 2014, 274 solar panels adorn our roofs and we are 50% self-sufficient in terms of our electricity. Little by little, we are on our way forward. Of course, in our conference center 75% of lighting consists of LED bulbs and there is no longer a light bulb to be found. For the remaining lighting we use energy-saving bulbs. The outdoor lighting never has more than 5 watts per bulb.
The buildings are heated with energy-efficient boilers with very high efficiency. Our showers have thermostatic taps, such that long mixing or top-ups are not necessary, and showers are also equipped with water-saving heads.
As of May 2016, we use our own well for watering our grounds. A next step would be to use this water for flushing toilets.
Cleaning:
We work 100% with microfiber for floors, furniture and windows.
For bathrooms and other wet areas, we work with rapidly degradable, nature-friendly agents. There are dispensers everywhere that prevent us from dispensing more soap than is strictly necessary. What you don't use saves the environment to the maximum, is the motto in cleaning. Even our dishwashing machine does its work entirely with organic soap detergent.
And the success of these implementations is evident from the reaction of our guests as they praise the level of cleanliness.
Kitchen:
We mostly use fresh, seasonal and locally produced fruits and vegetables, which doesn't require transportation and comes from the cold country. This helps save energy.
The dairy products and meat we use are organic. Our delicious organic bread in all shapes and sizes is also well worth a visit and tasting.
Our vegetarian options form a nice croomenge for many guests who like to eat meat! We offer both and then it is nice to see that our meat loving guests also start to opt for and enjoy the vegetarian dishes.
We are happy to contribute in this way and suggestions are most welcome.
